Bridget Gillespie is a self-taught mixed media artist born and raised in Chicago, IL. Her themes often include ideas of feminism, sexuality and spirituality and are communicated through various art mediums; fashion, paint and craft. Her work is saturated with ironic statements, clichés, metaphors and pop culture buzz words. In a search for new methods to inspire, Bridget is mainly driven to create a piece by her personal life and relationships, our city’s own urban landscape, and ideals of the sixties and seventies. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relation with popular culture and media.  Sometimes they can appear vapid or quirky, but often times they hit a familiar and nostalgic nerve for the observer.
